The official Winlator APK is published on the developer’s GitHub releases page. That is the only source we recommend. Many websites offer repackaged files labeled “Winlator Pro,” “Winlator Premium” or “mod,” and these are a common way for malware to spread. There is no paid version of Winlator.

To download safely:

  1. Open the official releases page using the button above.
  2. Choose the newest release at the top of the list (currently v11.2).
  3. Download the .apk file listed under Assets.
  4. Avoid any site that asks you to complete a survey, create an account or pay.

For a full checklist, including how to spot fake builds, read our guide: Is Winlator Safe? How to Download the Official APK.

The v11.2 release is a smaller update. According to the official release notes, it includes:

  • An option to save memory when running games from Steam
  • An option to run Winlator as a foreground service, contributed by a community developer
  • Improved presentation of rendered images
  • An XInput extension for raw input

The 11.x series, which started with v11.0 in September 2025, brought larger changes such as an experimental OpenGL wrapper (Gladio), a HUD mode and a reworked gamepad implementation. You can see every release in our Winlator versions and changelog page.

Before you download, check that your device is a reasonable fit:

  • Android 8.0 or newer. Android 10 or later is a more comfortable baseline.
  • A 64-bit ARM processor. Almost every modern phone has one.
  • A capable GPU. Snapdragon phones with Adreno graphics have the best community support. Phones with Mali GPUs (many MediaTek and Exynos devices) can work, but results vary more.
  • Enough storage and RAM. The app is around 150 MB, but games take far more space. Lighter games run on 6 GB of RAM, while demanding titles are much more comfortable with 8 GB or more.
  • Your own game files. Winlator doesn’t include any games.

Most people should simply use the latest official release. A few other builds exist, made by the community, such as Ludashi, GameNative, Frost, Mali and Glibc variants. They add features or target specific hardware, but they are not the official app and quality varies. If you’re unsure, start with the official build and only switch if you run into a problem it can’t solve. Our Winlator variants comparison explains the differences.

Older versions can sometimes behave better on certain phones or games, so they are still worth knowing about. Browse them on the versions page.

Winlator works best with older and mid-range PC games, indie titles, strategy games, classic shooters and visual novels. It can also run some Windows utilities and small desktop programs. Support for DirectX 9 to 11 titles is the strongest area, while newer DirectX 12 games depend on your hardware and may not work.

Modern AAA games and anything with kernel-level anti-cheat usually don’t run. How well a game performs also depends heavily on your chip, your driver and your settings. For examples, see our Winlator games list.

Once Winlator is installed, performance comes down to a few choices:

If something goes wrong, check our guides for black screens and crashes, low FPS and installation errors.
